Success and Failure in Alice Walkers To sinning With Dying Alice Walkers To Hell With Dying appears on the surface to be a story of a man who has many near-death experiences. However, I call back that the story of Mr. winsome shows the side of depression and failure that Alice Walker might have faced had she not pushed her way to success. Mr. Sweet grew up in a time period where the life between whites and blacks was very segregated. However, Mr. Sweet had been ambitious as a boy, wanted to be a doctor or lawyer or sailor, only to find that black men fare better if they were not (Walker 1143). When he realized this defeat he turned to fishing as his only claim to doing anything extraordinarily well (1143). This failure seemed to overcome Mr. Sweet as he turned to the bottle as a sort of sanctuary. Mr. Sweet was constantly on the verge of being blind drunk (1144) however, to the kids this made him the perfect playmate. Often when Mr. Sweet was feeling good (1144), he would dance most and play in the yard with the children. When he was in this state he was just as vulnerable as they were. In fact, most of the time the children win the battles. An ironic behavior that Mr. Sweet has in this story, however, is that we exhibit about him playing with the neighbors children, but we never read about him playing with his own child. Maybe this is because of the entropy failure that occurred in Mr. Sweets life. Since that eon they have been through many changes and many hard times. By 1962 they started opening full line discount stores which continued to help the company succeed. From 1980 - 2002 five divergent CEOs ran the company. Some of their strategies were focused on the same track as the one before them while others had to change direction entirely in order to fight to turn the company around. Kmart has suppliers that they order their goods from so they can keep their shelves stocked. They do not make any of their own products however they do try to narrow down feather themselves by selling exclusive brands that include Thalia Sodi, Jaclyn Smith, Joe B oxer, Martha Stewart, and Sesame Street. Kmarts strategy has changed a few times since they started out and may continue to change in order to succeed. They have faced bankruptcy in the past and have fought to continue to compete against their competitors. Kmart has many competitive and environmental deplumes impacting the industry today. They are loosing the market share to both Target and Wal-Mart because they are so focused on how to make some other buck that they are not focusing on what really matters, the customers. Until the customers are satisfied with the stores product (being on shelves), the service they receive and the location and shape of the stores they give not return as loyal customers to Kmart.
